Part time benefits eligible and a strong "family atmosphere. Everyone treats Everyone fair
As with all places, there is favoritism
Paid sick time, paid vacation time (earned monthly/yearly)
Don't care too much about the CEO, but the regional VP and district managers to randomly pop in and treat us hourly associates with a smile and a hello.
They should listen to the input of us front line workers.
I researched the company and the position I was applying to.
I believe this is a competitive market and every company will try to offer 1% more than the next.
I'm a middle aged white male, but work with many people from all walks of life. Even Mexican New Yorker, with a black mom, so
My co-workers
Most co-workers do try under pressures of skeleton staff and hours being cut to increase corporate profits. It's easy to get noticed if you go above and beyond. Harder to be compensated for going above and beyond.
Very difficult to get FT status. Tiresome training videos that gaslight the watcher with regards to the value wheel. It does not take long to learn the value wheel is really only true with the floor associates. Every level of management focuses less and less on all segments except the shareholder. The higher you get in the management chain, the more factual that statement becomes.
I don't really have anything to say here. Not many perks which are specific to THD. The free eye care is nice. The fact they make it so difficult to go full time really limits the full benefits package. The low pay makes it difficult to buy into the stocks and other financial benefits offered. Most associates don't make enough to survive without some other source of income.
The new program where they are sending or corporate employees out on the floor to spend a shift is a good idea. Whether it becomes a publicity stunt if yet to be seen.
Force the all the management outside of the stores to spend time on the floor with associates and let them shadow the associate. They all need to be retrained on the full value wheel. There are enough crybabies at the HD which can be dismissed as such but there are enough associates that really live the orange life and these are the people the corporate managers need to spend time with.
I didn't really prepare outside of my experience as a professional in the field of finish carpentry.
It could be acceptable I suppose in certain circumstances. For anyone that comes here for a "career" as they advertise on the banners over the front door... you will struggle to make this your only source of income.
I think they actually do a good job here.
The customers. I spend time and really just follow the basics of customer service. I don't need all these silly ideas like GET. I have done that and more my entire life when I deal with people.
Favoritism is rampant. Retaliatory acts from management. Badges for performance are giving to satisfy there numbers. Work never ends for those that perform. You're demanded to get a forklift and reach license with No pay increase.
If you work you're only getting more work .
Leaving on time . But that doesn't always happen.
I really can't say
Improve training for management on how to manage
Nothing . They are desperate to hire because of there high turn over rate
Is leaving on time but that rarely happens due to the constant call outs from other employees
Favoritism is rampant
Its average
The vacation time.Stock in the company.Meeting customers helping them with there project.
The unfairness in the schedule.working 9 days in a row.favoritism.
Stocks
Our leadership in our store is not fair
The core values to be followed
I walked in a received a paper application
Yes. I been with the company for years
Na
Meeting new people Helping customers with their new projects
Working with customers and helping them to complete their projects
Poorly managed. Lack of knowledge on the part of management in leadership. Management assuming they are more knowledgeable than associates in construction fields. Ignoring associates concerns regarding safety.
There are no perks.
Have worked for two years and have never engaged with the leadership team.
Fair treatment for exceptional skills and knowledge.
Average
Good representation
Good environment for social interaction…."."………….
Very kind and family like people at the labor force level. Good people working hard.
1. Ageism. 2. Little concern for quality and service as it was years ago when professional people were hired. 3. Teaches people (customers) to steal with abandon. Flagrant disregard for consequences or accountability. 4. Understaffed by design to decrease costs and increase bonuses for managers. Sad. 5. Poor productivity is rewarded by ignoring the need for individual accountability in the effort to coddle lazy employees who don’t carry their own weight overworking productive employees to achieve the delta. 6. Fake and superficial examples of award for participation instead of genuine reward for real accomplishments.
Insurance. Mediocre but serviceable.
Energetic but misguided effort that represents the minority of wealthy higher level employees.
Reverse the bonus attributes for success starting with the labor force instead of the management team. The real earners for the success of The Home Depot are the workers on the floor and not the managers in the offices. As us typical, the workers bonuses are as small as their salaries and the greatest benefit of bonuses for success are larger for the workers who contribute the least. Shameful.
Serious in-depth research and employee engagement in the stores. Communication with recruiters.
Poorly!
Acceptable but requires improvement.
Helping people with solutions to their problems.
its close to my house
No accountability, favoritism, non visible management staff, unfair labor actions
stock price
CEO is a non entity on the store level. visits from regional management is a joke, we call it the dog and pony show.
Home Depot has some great ideas but once they hit the store level they become watered down and ineffective. Make a rule and stick with it - collared shirts, no cell phones on the floor - which has become a major issue
Walked in and 10 minutes later walked out with a job. None of this "Tell me about a time when you..." All that does is ensure the biggest BS artist wins Go back to the old days of interviewing, on the spot with a couple of simple questions. Half the time new associates aren't a good match regardless of the lengthy process
Having been with them for 25 years, it took me all of those years to triple my salary from my starting wage of $10/hour, which back then was great, now they pay like every one else
Why have we never had a women as CEO? Says it best right there
Helping customers
Ability to transfer to different stores if needed due to relocating
Raises are based off a “team” performance not an individual performance. Thus leading one to not have any motivation to perform above standards when your coworkers don’t.
Learning different departments
Nothing. They just want their money and don’t care about the environment the employees work in. They do not ask associates what would make the stores better but they are quick to put their two cents in. They would rather a forklift operator take a bunk of 12ft 2x8 lumber through the store around customers instead of having a contractor pull around back to be loaded where it is safer, and one would not have to interfere with customers shopping experience
All stores do not need to be treated the same. ie: if an incident happens at a store that should not interfere with another store’s ability to continue operating as they were.
The same as any interview.
It isn’t the worst but could definitely use a review
I feel this is the best thing Home Depot offers
My coworkers
They have great dental and vision insurance benefits
Having the weekends off
It's a little difficult to move up within the company.
I admire their desire to better help the team.
I would ensure employees and management thoroughly look at the surveys for ways to improve the stores worldwide.
I research the company and study it and what it is im doing and make notes for myself to remember.
It's good but could be better
it's diverse
completing the task at hand given to me.
You can move up in the company. You get out of it what you put In and get support from management.
It is retail so you get everything that comes with that. You work with every kind of person even lazy
401 k for sure is my favorite benefit
Sometimes the consistency is off
By thinking of my life experiences and how they help me in my work life
Hd is very diverse
The people I work with
Above average
Learned a lot. Focus on cross-training was unique and exciting.
CO-workers who weren't serious about their assignments. Wear and year on the body.
The health insurance, matching 401K, purchasing power program.
The managers who cared about you were the genuine article!
The pay.
Going online and researching the company, and visiting a nearby store.
Is on par or lower
Depends on which store and which district.
1. For me, fulfilling my assignment with a great co-worker. 2. The appreciation days the Company provides.
Competitive salary, good hours
Unfair scheduling, favoritism, low wage
Lots of parties
Nice manager Ceo must make money because we dont
Livable wages,,,,too much difference in department wages, some get bonuses most dont
I didnt
Low wage, can't afford an apartment, car insurance and food
They hire anyone
Going home
I get along great with all of my coworkers and managers are all pretty helpful. The customers, most of them anyways, are all pretty nice, too.
I would love to go full-time,but have only gotten part-time hours even after being there for 2 years.
They start from day 1
Open door policy
I don't know actually but since I have to use at least 75 characters here that's what I'm going to do
Be myself. There's nothing you really can do. Just don't show up drunk or higher than a Georgia pine tree and smile and be really nice to the person interviewing you and you should be fine.
Above average
I guess it's ok
I get along well with everyone and we're like a big family
The early hours, ease of public transportation, management, learning new skills.
Toxic environment, lack of warehouse staff and communication.
Work life benefits, covid relief/time off, discounts to different stores.
The great co workers and great owners
The managers were power hungry and ageist
The health coverage
I Ran Oustside Contractor Orders. I was pretty much my own boss .
Pay and management was horrible
Good benefits, hours
it is a steady job
the stores are filthy, management is home grown, they lack professional leadership training. Managers are severely underpaid. Most associates are the one's no one else will hire.
employee stock purchase
I liked some of the other staff
I hated the management and negative work environment
Being able to call out when sick
If you get to work with people who actually want to work and work their schedule its awesome. Benefit options like free eye care
Unrealistic work load and work life balance. One thing after another added to all positions but cutting back on hours to add to high call out rates. Upper management has lost the understanding of what its like to work in the building where people dont care about your title and show you lack of respect.
Receipt tracking and free eye care
its great, you can pick your hours, you can expect two raises a year (from my experiece and my co workers) and management is often friendly and understanding. there are also benifits like dental.
the only con for being an associate would be any negative customer interactions
I was in management and managed 8 to 20 Salespeople. I had unlimited earning potential with bonus pay. I was a tenured Sales Manager.
The opportunities for advancement. Had to relocate three times. Sales training was not always contemporary. The environment was not diverse, inclusive and equitable.
Bonus, 401 and employee stock option purchase
401k
Flexibility when helping customers
Work inviroment management discriminates and plays favorites.
Management was great at the time
As time went on management went south and the "family" aspect that they were pushing became nonexistent.
Vacation and sick time as a part-timer.
The team work of all associates. Whether you need extra help with moving objects , transactions etc, everyone is willing to help.
Nothing really.
401 k
My manager was fantastic. Coworkers and customers were generally pleasant. The job expectations were reasonable.
Good benefits but could improve on better pay.
Management could improve significantly to help employees do better. Better recognition. Better pay for the stress you go through day by day. Overload on work and not enough pay.
Get rewarded with food and snacks for days safe working.
The environment and friendly coworkers
The management was not great.
Tuition reimbursement
Initially pretty flexible with scheduling opportunities. Professional working environment.
Change of management left things in shambles.
Spending much of the day outside.
having something to do
the hours, for parttime people its up and down. the pay, management is all over the place
having coworkers around my age, some coworkers treat most like family
Fun working environment, not too much scrutiny from management
Stingy about pay raises
The culture, the management, the support you receive from management and colleagues and the encouragement received to grow and learn new things to enhance your career.
The legal department does not have many opportunities to advance.
Success sharing bonus twice a year
Friendly Staff, hours were great. Part time flexibility. Working as a team
Physical labor
401K/IRA benefits
I enjoyed seeing the logistics of a large company at work while also getting to interact personally with customers.
Required team breaks throughout shifts
The coworkers where always the best and fun
Some managers would take sides with associates that had no impact in their department
Insurance
I like the work Environment
How the supervisor makes decisions at last minute when where Supposed to be wrapping up
Knowing how too use all the machinery
I love working remotely, great benefits and good hours.
Rude co workers/sales reps, lack of consideration from upper management, favoritism
Working from home
The customers
The assistant managers and some of the rules about Veterans discounts
Insurance
Support to employees
lack of management skills of immediate supervisors
Hours
The whole store becomes a family, excluding management
Lack of communication/support in making advancements to a higher position. Special treatment given to some. Management is simply worried about numbers most of the time, rather than their people.
None.
Operating machinery, staying active. Making new friends
Poor management
Health insurance
Flexible work schedule.
Some systems are outdated and could be updated to improve work efficiency.
Profit Sharing and work environment.
I liked a lot of the hands on learning and how much trust the managers put into their employees
The occasional difficult customers
I really appreciated all of the holidays/staff appreciation days my managers would host. They made me feel like I was wanted at my job
team management
there wasnt anything that i didnt like
flexibility of schedule
fast paced work environment
lack of communication from associates to management
401k match
The pay is decent
some managers do not care about your wellbeing
the days are decent
The people are wonderful and overall the job is pretty good!
Moving up is a difficulty, and it is not unheard of to be treated poorly by upper management.
Tuition reimbursement!!!
The working with people and helping out where I can
The managers had too much power
The 401k and the medical benefits
Coworkers are great, positive environment, feels like you are valued
New management was bad
Competitive pay and generally good coworkers, paid leave, options for healthcare etc, and discount website
coworkers, easy to work with and
management, could care more about employees
none
Constantly being busy while I am there and having a flexible schedule
Poor management and lack of morale throughout the company
I am provided with a 401k retirement plan and given good hours and pay for a part time worker.
